Dr. Bassam Altajar has been dedicated to the practice of internal medicine and cardiology for over 25 years. Born in Syria, he graduated from the University of Damascus with his medical degree in 1985. He then completed his non-invasive cardiology fellowship certification at the University of Poitiers in France. Dr. Altajar moved to New York City in 1993 where he completed a residency at St. Barnabus Hospital in the Bronx, New York. Dr. Altajar joined Gene E. Myers Cardiac and Vascular Consultants, PA in 2001.
Dr. Altajar is a Fellow of the American Academy of Cardiology and a Board Certified Sleep Specialist. He is a member of the American Society of Echocardiography, the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians. Dr. Altjar specializes in non-invasive and consultative Cardiology providing complete Cardiac and Vascular care services to Hardee, Desoto and Sarasota Counties.
